A 20-year-old girl who never got over her failure to be recruited as an air hostess two years ago jumped to her death from her home in Shenyang on Tuesday, reports Huashang Morning Post.

The formerly outgoing Xiaofan, who proudly stood 1.70 metres tall, took the test to become a stewardess in 2001 fully confident of her abilities, but recruiters ultimately did not choose her.

Something went wrong with the girl after that, a neighbour confided. She often sat astride the window ledge, frightening her family who called police many times to coax her back into the flat.

In previous instances, the girl always said she was kidding and promised she would not jump.

But this time she did, in front of two adult family members at home, said her grieving mother.
