Non-commissioned officers leads technological innovation ( 2003-08-25 11:26) (PLA Daily) In mid-August, a piece of
news came from a communication regiment of the Beijing Military Area Command,
that a non-commissioned officer led the technological innovation on a new type
of communication equipment worth one million yuan. This is the result of
changing traditional idea and encouraging the officer and men to conduct
technological innovation by the Party committee of the regiment.
The communication equipment of the regiment has high technological content.
At the beginning of this year, the regiment was equipped with four sets of new
communication equipment valuing at one million yuan. The regiment took good care
of them for their high value. In the recent communication exercise under complex
topographic conditions organized by the higher level, 2 of the 4 equipment broke
down because of the malfunction of the integrated circuit. The malfunction came
from the shock of the mainboard on the road. In order to ensure the
accomplishment of communication task, the regiment has to spend several thousand
yuan to buy new mainboard and invite experts from scientific research unit to
fix it.
This incident impressed non-commissioned officer Wang Tao a great deal. After
the exercise, Wang began to probe into ways for solving the shock of mainboard.
He got inspiration from the example of PC. As the harddisk is fragile, so shock
absorption rubber is attached to it. Why don't dismantle the mainboard and
attach protection film to absorb the shock between mainboard and other parts?
After learning the internal structure of equipment, Wang put forward a plan.
When the Party committee got the plan, they organized technical backbone to
discuss Wang's plan. They also consulted scientific research experts on this
issue. After getting positive reply, the Party committee decided at once to
implement improvement on the new equipment and let Wang act as leader of a
scientific research team. With the joint efforts of the team, the technical
improvement of the equipment was finished one week later and the performance was
good after test.
