40 meteorological soldiers trained ( 2003-08-25 11:26) (PLA Daily) In early August, more than 40 recruits finished
their training of meteorological expertise for the arms of artillery and air
defense and went to their posts in different units under the Shenyang Military
Area Command. This is a measure taken by the headquarters of the military area
command to alleviate the shortage of talents in meteorology specialty in these
two arms.
The correct use of climate conditions to upgrade the hit accuracy¡¡and damage
effect for artillery and air defense forces is an important guarantee of
successful accomplishment of operational tasks.
With the increasing demands for meteorology specialty talents, the small
number of college graduates can't meet the needs in quantity. In order to
upgrade the meteorological support capability of the artillery and the air
defense forces, the headquarter of the Shenyang Military Area Command keeps an
eye on the future war and takes efforts to provide first level meteorological
service for the troops. Every year, some newly recruited soldiers from artillery
and air defense troops will be selected to the artillery training group to
receive systematic training on basic knowledge of meteorology, ground
observation and the usage of artillery meteorological equipment.
Nine batches of such training have not only brought out a large number of
soldiers mastering basic meterological technology, but also standardized the
drilling procedure and the usage and operation of meteorological equipment. The
support capability of artillery and air defense troops has been greatly improved
accordingly.
