Spokesman: woman not yet classified as suspected SARS case
( 2003-09-16 10:52) (Xinhua)

The female who was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital Monday night has not yet been classified as a suspected SARS case, a spokesman for the Department of Health in HK said.

He noted that more tests would have to be conducted before a conclusion could be drawn.

The hospital has taken samples from the patient for further tests by the laboratory of the Department of Health on Tuesday morning and initial results will hopefully be available by Tuesdaynoon, the spokesman said.

Both the department and the Hospital Authority would take all precautionary measures, he said.

The patient, who has no travel history, presented shortness of breath symptoms on Sept. 8. She was admitted to Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital two days later and was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital Monday night.

The patient's daughter, who is living with her, and the patient's parents, whom the patient has visited recently, are all in good health and they are asymptomatic, the spokesman added.
