Wang tries to challenge established theory ( 2003-09-28 14:21) (PLA Daily) As a young scientific worker,
Wang is extraordinary intelligent. At the age of 27, he obtained the doctor's
degree and published nearly one hundred academic theses. His research results
have won 3 first-class Military Scientific and Technological Progress Awards and
one second-class and one third-class scientific and technological progress
awards at ministry and commission levels.
From his undergraduate years to postgraduate years and even during his years
of studying for doctor's degree, Wang was not the brightest among his peers as
far as scores were concerned, but he was definitely the one who asked the most
questions during the class. Seeing his challenging character, his tutor advised
him to take radar as his major research direction. This is a difficult
discipline in the world and the research on it has been going on for 50 years
without any result. But Wang thought if he could get any breakthrough in the
field, the reward was also great, and would meant that China could take the lead
in this field.
Encouraged by trust of his tutor, Wang bravely undertook this arduous
mission.
In the days thereafter, Wang tried repeatedly but all ended in failure. He
began to wonder whether the theoretical system itself he used in his research
had any defects.
This was a bold idea. Because this theoretic system has been well-recognized
in this academic field and has been applied for decades and few people dared to
raise doubt about it, and he was only a young guy studying for his doctorate.
But Wang was confident of his own calculation, and decided to break away from
the old theoretical system and started from scratch.
With 5 years'effort, Wang eventually find a new path. His doctorate
dissertation was regarded by experts as a key theoretic result in this field,
which has surpassed world advanced level and it was included in "China Top 100
Excellent Doctorate Dissertations".
