Four-year university education initiated for China's stewardesses ( 2003-10-08 14:00) (Xinhua) The Nanchang Aeronautical
Institute in east China's Jiangxi Province launched a four-year major in air
attendance Tuesday, the first of its kind in China.
A total of 95 young women enrolled in the major this year. They will obtain
bachelor's degrees upon graduation if completing all courses as required.
The students will receive special training on passenger-serving skills,
security, customs and manners, and oral English.
The institute plans to increase enrollment of male students in 2004 to train
as airline security guards.
Currently, there are some other college courses for flight attendance in
China, which last for no more than three years and are not entitled to award
bachelor's degrees.
