Big three avoid each other in playoffs
( 2003-10-14 09:32) (Agencies)

The big three teams in soccer's Euro 2004 playoffs avoided each other in Monday's draw.

Spain will face Norway, the Netherlands will play Scotland and Turkey will meet Latvia in playoff games scheduled for Nov. 15-16 and 18-19. In other games, it's Russia-Wales and Croatia-Slovenia.

Spain, Scotland, Latvia, Croatia and Russia play at home in the first leg.

The venues, dates and starting times will be set by Oct. 20.

The winners of the home-and-away series will join 11 other teams that have already qualified for the June 12-July 4 tournament in Portugal: France, Denmark, Czech Republic, Sweden, Germany, Greece, England, Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland and Portugal.
