In July, 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) moved its original meeting site from Shanghai to a boat on the South Lake of Jiaxing. Thus the CPC was founded in a tourist boat on the lake. The South Lake has since been a sacred place esteemed by the nation. [chinadaily.com.cn/Han Lei] | | | | | | | | |
