Clippers clock Mavericks 128-107 ( 2003-10-15 16:15) (Agencies)
Elton Brand scored 11 of his 20 points in the third quarter as the Los Angeles Clippers routed the Dallas Mavericks 128-107 Tuesday night in an exhibition game.
Antawn Jamison, the centerpiece of the nine-player trade between Dallas and Golden State in August, scored 15 of his 19 points in the first quarter. Jiri Welsch also had 19 for Dallas.
Michael Finley made his prseason debut for the Mavericks (2-2), and scored seven points in 23 minutes after missing the first three games because of a sore right quadriceps.
The Clippers (1-2) built a 69-44 halftime lead without anyone scoring in double figures. They shot 65 percent from the field in the half and outscored Dallas 18-6 over the final 5:05 of the second quarter.
Los Angeles had no turnovers during that run, after coughing up the ball five times during a 4:18 span. The Clippers kept it rolling in the third quarter, extending the margin to 98-67 on Brand's layup with 2:15 left in the period.
The Mavericks got no closer than 18 points after outscoring the Clippers 17-6 over the first 6 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter.
Chris Wilcox, who picked up his third foul with the game less than 4 1/2 minutes old, finished with 10 points in 18 minutes. He started at center in place of No. 1 draft pick Chris Kaman, who is expected to be sidelined five-to-seven days because of a strained lower left leg.
