A tunnel under the West Lake opened to traffic on Wednesday in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang Province, after 300 days of construction. The south-north tunnel is 1,269 metres long, including 800 metres under the lake. The tunnel is expected to relieve much of the traffic congestion around the lake, a famous scenic spot. [newsphoto]
