The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC)
held a meeting Friday to celebrate an arbitration expert being awarded a Swedish
royal order.
The expert, Tang Houzhi, was awarded the "Commander of the Royal Order of the
Polar Star" by Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf on Tuesday, for his contribution to
international business arbitration, to enhancing arbitration cooperation between
China and Sweden and to enhancing bilateral friendship.
This was the first time someone from an international arbitration circle has
won the order.
Tang, vice chairman of CIETAC, has drafted and finalized international laws
for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law as a representative
of Chinese government.
The "Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star" was established in the
1700's, awarding Swedes who make contributions in public services, science and
literature or foreigners who contributed both to international communities and
Sweden in these areas.
Sweden is the third country China has chosen to deal with in international
business arbitration.
