Just how much do you weigh? ( 2003-10-30 08:47) (China Daily)
At the Aimin Weight Reduction Hospital, this formula is applied to calculate
a person's standard weight:
(Height (cm) - 100) x 0.9 = standard weight (kg) for men; (height (cm) - 100)
x 0.85 = standard weight (kg) for women.
People are considered to be overweight when their weight exceeds the standard
weight by 10 per cent, and to be obese when it is exceeded by more than 20 per
cent.
According to the formula, obesity can also be divided into four smaller
sub-groups: a light degree of obesity is when a person has a weight that
surpasses 20 per cent to 30 per cent of the standard; a medium degree of obesity
is 30 per cent to 50 per cent too much; a high degree of obesity is a weight of
more than 50 per cent; and, extreme or morbid obesity is weight that surpasses
more than 100 per cent.
