World forum on acrobatics and circuses held ( 2003-11-04 21:08) (Xinhua) An international forum on
acrobatics and circuses has been held in Shijiazhuang, North China's Hebei
Province, aiming to foster creativity in the trade.
The third World Forum on Acrobatics and Circuses (WFAC), jointly organized by
China Acrobats Association and the organizing committee of China Wuqiao
Acrobatics Festival, attracted 100 acrobatics and circus experts from ten
countries, including the United States, Switzerland, Russia and Brazil.
Wuqian City is dubbed the "Home of Chinese Acrobatics" and an international
acrobatics festival is held there every year.
French acrobatics expert Dominique Mauclair said here Tuesday that creativity
and new skills were more important in attracting audiences than bravery.
Dirk Kulk, editor-in-chief of the Germany-based Planet Circuso Magazine, said
discussions on creativity in acrobatics and circus would contribute to the
development of the trade.
Bian Faji, vice-president of the China Acrobats Association, said as Chinese
acrobats and circus actors appeared more on the world stage and more foreign
acrobat and circus troupes entered the Chinese market, it was crucial for
experts to better communicate.
The first WFAC was held in Shijiangzhuang City in 1999 and the event has been
staged every two years in Hebei Province since then.
