NBA: Bucks stop Jazz 100-95 ( 2003-11-16 14:51) (Agencies)
Michael Redd scored 25 points Saturday night to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 100-95 victory over the Utah Jazz in a matchup of teams off to surprisingly decent starts.
Carlos Arroyo, who scored a career-high 30 points at Minnesota on Friday, finished with 21 points for Utah. Matt Harpring added 19.
Both teams, predicted by many to be two of the worst squads in the NBA this season, have won five games to make Terry Porter and Jerry Sloan early contenders for Coach of the Year honors.
Six of Milwaukee's nine games have been against Western Conference opponents, and six of the Bucks' opponents have a winning record. The Bucks, one of two teams to beat Eastern Conference-leading Indiana, have won five of their last eight games.
Although the Jazz finished their four-game road trip 1-3, they play their next six at home where they are 4-0.
Milwaukee held a 77-76 lead with 8:07 left before scoring the next 13 points. Redd had seven straight points during the run, and Thomas' dunk put Milwaukee ahead 90-76 with 4:14 remaining.
Notes:@ Milwaukee is 5-2 in its last seven games against Utah. The Bucks are 2-4 against teams with a winning record and 1-3 against the West. ... The Jazz is 1-5 on the road. ... Each team shot 50 percent in the first half. ... Utah plays host to Milwaukee on Friday.
