Professionals to get recognition on mainland
( 2003-11-22 16:38) (HK Edition)

A new arrangement will be signed soon to allow Hong Kong's securities and futures professionals to obtain qualifications required to practise on the mainland.

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and the China Securities Regulatory Commission will sign the agreement next week, Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa said yesterday.

"The move will better promote the cause of our professionals on the mainland, and enhance our status as a logistics and support centre for commerce and industry," he told a news conference.

Official recognition on the mainland will allow Hong Kong professionals to obtain qualifications quicker and increase their opportunities to participate in activities across the border, Tung said.
