Guangdong leads nation by export, import ( 2003-11-24 14:10) (Xinhua)
Guangdong Province, one of China's economic powerhouses, did US$227.61b worth
of foreign trade in the first 10 months of the year, up 26.3 per cent from the
same period last year.
Sources from Guangdong Customs said that the foreign trade volume accounted
for 33.4 per cent of the national total.
According to the sources, from January to October, the province exported
US$121.73b worth of commodities, up 26.1 per cent, and imported US$105.88b worth
of commodities, up 26.6 per cent.
Overseas-financed businesses and state-owned ventures are key export players
in the province.
Imports kept rising in Guangdong in the first 10 months. The province
imported US$29.39b of commodities via general trade, up 36.3 per cent and
another US$65.4b worth via processing trade, up 21.5 per cent.
