Road accident kills 3 in E. China ( 2003-12-08 15:33) (Xinhua)
A road accident in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province,
killed three people early Monday morning.
Around midnight, an overloaded truck carrying road-paving stone collided with
a taxi at the crossroads of Shangtang Road and Shaoxing Road. About a
dozen tons of stone poured over the taxi, burying the taxi driver and two
passengers.
Local police and firemen rushed to the site but all the three people
were found dead after two hours of rescue.
The two passengers, one male and the other female, were journalists of
two local newspaper organizations. Overloaded trucks had caused several
nocturnal accidents in Hangzhou, said the police, noting the truck driver
had been detained.
