Fire kills 5 in east China province ( 2003-12-08 22:07) (Xinhua)
A midnight fire claimed five lives in wee hours of Monday in Shangyu city in
east China's Zhejiang province.
The fire broke out in a two-story house in Minzhu village in Daoxu town and
was put out at 1:30 a.m. A family of four and an elderly house keeper living
inside were all killed.
The house belonged to Luo Weiliang, 41, an electrician. His wife, young
daughter and 80-year-old mother also lost their lives in the fire. The house
keeper, a 72-year-old woman in the village, took care of Luo's bed-confined
mother and lived with her on the first floor.
Preliminary investigation shows improper electricity use led to the tragedy.
