Buckingham Palace "prankster" freed on bail ( 2003-12-11 10:41) (Xinhua)
A man arrested after he was found in the grounds of Buckingham Palace earlier
Wednesday was released on bail to return on a date in February, Scotland Yard
said.
The 27-year-old was understood to be a drunken prank and not
terrorist-related, according to a Sky News report.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said police responded immediately to an alert
triggered by an alarm system within the palace grounds earlier Wednesday
morning.
"A short while later a man was found at the perimeter wall," he said.
The arrest came after Daily Mirror reporter Ryan Parry last month disclosed
he had posed as a footman at Buckingham Palace during the build-up to the state
visit by US President George W. Bush.
Parry's story then prompted British Prime Minister Tony Blair to order a
full-scale review of royal security.
