SOEs to reform by learning foreign experience ( 2003-12-15 20:59) (Xinhua)
State-owned enterprises in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province would
carry out reforms by learning experience from and extending cooperation with
foreign corporations, said Wang Limin, vice governor of the province.
Speaking Monday at the cooperation and communication conference between
the provincial state enterprises and US General Electric (GE), Wang noted that it
was necessary and important to cooperate with and learn from foreign giants like
GE, so as to reform the provincial state-owned enterprises.
"On one hand, we should carry out reform of state enterprises, bringing their
potentials into play through learning and introducing in advanced management
experience and modern technologies in order to revitalize this China's old
industrial base; on the other hand, we hope to cooperate with international
giants like GE to incorporate some high grade products into the world market."
he said.
Liu Bo, general manager of GE's China branch, introduced the history and
development orientation of the corporation. He said that GE would be interested
in the cooperation with Heilongjiang- based enterprises in power system,
industrial system and so on.
Liu hoped that the conference would contribute to the substantial and
effective collaboration between GE and Heilongjiang's state-owned enterprises.
The conference was welcomed by local enterprises, said Wang, and some
prepared to further discuss with GE on cooperation details right after the
conference.
