Indonesia to host first China engineering exhibition ( 2003-12-16 16:08) (Xinhua)
Hundreds of Chinese businessmen and companies will participate in the China
Engineering and Technology Fair at the Jakarta fairground on Dec. 20-23, the
first of its kind in Southeast Asia, a Chinese official said here Tuesday.
Indonesia is chosen for its growing technological development and high
population which make the country a more important trading partner, said Sun
Qianyuan, deputy director under the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation.
The exhibition, to be opened by Indonesian Minister of Industry and Trade
Rini Soewandi, will cover engineering and technology application in
machine-building, oil and gas industries, construction, transportation,
telecommunication, chemical, infrastructure, automotive and agricultural
machine, Sun said.
He claimed that 226 Chinese companies had confirmed their participation,
including 70 China's leading oil and gas firms.
He said a similar show has been held in India, United Arab Emirates and
Brazil, and will hold another in Germany after Jakarta.
In the sidelines of the exhibition, a business forum will be held on Dec.
22-23 with the presence of government officials and business people from both
countries.
