China, Iran sweep titles

China and Iran split the medals as Chinese strongwomen asserted their supremacy in the competitions by sweeping all the medals on offer at the Asian Junior Inter-club Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday.

Chinese strongwomen, with overwhelming power in the world, dominated the ongoing junior championships after they grabbed all the medals of the women's 63kg and 69kg categories.

The 18-year-old Yu Yue from Daqing Club lifted a total weight of 202.5kg to win the 63kg class while the Asian junior record of the class is 242.5kg set by Chinese Quang Xiaofang this year.

He Dongxu, 15, was second with a total of 200.0kg. Yao Meili finished third with 190.0kg.

Caolei, 18, took the three golds of the 69kg categories with a total result of 215.0kg. Qi Te and Sun Meikao, both 12 years old,clinched the silver and bronze respectively.

In the men's 69kg category, Iranian Hercules Hossein Abron fromthe Oil CO. Club overpowered Chinese Mo Xiaoguang to claim the three golds of the snatch, jerk and total. The 15-year-old Mo hadto accept the three silver medals, while Abron's teammate Hady Razavi finished third.

Lu Changliang of China dominated the men's 77kg class as he wonthe gold medals of snatch, clean and jerk and total, beating two Iranians Mahomod E. Zaden and Sajad Mohammadi to the second and third places.

The tournament, which began on Monday, saw an entry of 15 clubsfrom five countries of China, Iran, Mongolia, Singapore and Thailand.
