Military theme park to open in May ( 2004-01-12 09:53) (China Daily)
A large military theme park in Tianjin, a coastal city in North China, is
expected to open to domestic and foreign visitors from May 1, Xinhua News Agency
reports.
With an aircraft carrier of the former Soviet Union as the centrepiece,
Tianjin Municipality has injected 6 billion yuan (US$722 million) into building
an international amusement park which includes 7 square kilometres of land and 2
square kilometres of marine areas.
The park will have a museum showcasing models of aircraft carriers from
around the world, a cinema to show famous military films, Russian-style bars and
cafes as well as venues where visitors can participate in war
games.
