Japanese weapons destroyed in Harbin ( 2004-01-12 09:53) (China Daily)
More than 1,200 military weapons left behind by the Japanese army during
1937-45 when they invaded China were destroyed in Harbin, capital of Northeast
China's Heilongjiang Province on Saturday, Heilongjiang Daily reports.
All the bombs were found at local construction work sites last year,
according to Cui Xuejun, vice-director of Harbin Public Security Bureau.
They include shells, grenades, signal flare bombs and mines with the biggest
weighing 250 kilograms and the smallest 500 grams.
