Landslide kills three in SW. China
A landslide provoked by heavy rain swept into a village in Yiliang County of southwest China's Yunnan Province Wednesday morning, killing three people.
Two were injured and one remains missing as a result of the three-hour landslide on Wednesday, said an official from the county government Thursday.
The heavy rain had been falling on Yiliang County since midnight Tuesday, generating the severe landslide.
The local government has dispatched 250 people on a search and rescue mission.
The two injured have been sent to a hospital and are in stable condition, according to the local government.
Yiliang County is located along the highway linking Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, and Shilin, a well-known tourist site in the province.
