Carter scores 28 in Raptors' win

Vince Carter scored 28 points and made several shots down the stretch to lead the Toronto Raptors to an 88-81 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

Carter was 8-of-15 from the floor and 12-for-13 from the free throw line. Chris Bosh scored 17 points for Toronto (3-0) and Lamond Murray added 14, including seven early in the fourth quarter when the Raptors took a commanding 70-55 lead.

The Pistons (1-2) then went on a 17-3 run, highlighted by two straight baskets and a free throw by Richard Hamilton.

Murray hit a 3-pointer with just over two minutes left to put the Raptors up 80-76. After a Detroit turnover, Carter made two straight baskets to give Toronto an 84-76 lead with just over a minute remaining to seal the victory.

Chauncey Billups led the Pistons with 19 points. Hamilton and Ben Wallace had 14 each.
