South China's largest international automobile exhibition will debut on November 25 in Guangzhou and run until December 2.
Jointly sponsored by the municipal government of Guangzhou, the Guangdong Economy and Trade Commission, the China Foreign Trade Centre, the China Mechanical Industry League and the China Automobile Industry Association, the exhibition will cover 60,000 square metres and showcase automobiles, parts, accessories and related services.
International brand names like Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, BMW, Audi, GM and Volkswagen will be represented, along with such leading domestic suppliers as the First Automobile Group, Shanghai Automobile Group, Guangzhou Automobile Group, Chang'an Group and Dongfeng Automobile Group.
Rather than focusing on sales, the exhibition is aimed at establishing a promotional platform for automobile enterprises and showing off their research and development capability, said Li Zhizhen, director-general of the Guangzhou Commerce Bureau.
The exhibition is also expected to be a forum for the release of new product information and to display concept cars, Li added.
Wang Xia, deputy director of the automobile branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said the fair will help both domestic and foreign automobile makers tap the burgeoning market in South China, and Guangdong Province in particular.
Wang said the province of Guangdong has long possessed the largest number of automobiles among all the provinces, and sales in the Pearl River Delta alone generally account for one-third of the nation's annual total.
