China approves draft changes to Foreign Trade Law
( 2003-11-27 09:52) (Agencies)

The State Council has approved in principle draft amendments to China's Foreign Trade Law and provisions on customs protection of intellectual property rights, state media reported.

The revision of the Foreign Trade Law is aimed at developing foreign trade, protecting market order and China's market economy after the country joined the World Trade Organization two years ago, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

The State Council gave the in-principle approval at an executive meeting Wednesday.

The draft will be handed to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for approval after the State Council amends it.

The State Council will issue the draft revision of the provisions on customs protection of IPR after making some amendments, the report said.
