SOE recruits vice-president from Hong Kong
( 2003-12-17 21:06) (Xinhua)

Huang Bilie, financial director of Hongkong Wide Code Investments (Group) Ltd, became vice-president of China National Trade Transportation Corp by defeating 43 contenders for the position.

The State-Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) announced Wednesday the result of the open recruitment initiated in September, in which seven senior management positions were offered by six major state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Huang succeeded in the only post that was not restricted to Chinese nationals.

SASAC director Li Rongrong described the recruitment as a key breakthrough in the reform of China's SOE personnel system. He pledged to recruit more senior managers for major SOEs through open invitation in 2004.

Lu Youqing, a local official from southwest China's Sichuan province, became vice-president of the China Aluminum Corp Ltd after defeating 92 contenders.

The most senior position, vice-president of China General Technology (Group) Holding Ltd, was competed for by 121 people and finally went to Han Benyi, vice-president of a cable broadcasting network company in west China's Shaanxi province.

Posts of vice-president A and vice-president B of China United Telecommunication Corporation went to Yang Xiaowei and Li Zhengmao, both vice-presidents of the corporation's local branches, with Yang from Guangdong branch and Li from Yunnan branch.

Zhang Hua, vice-president of China Shipbuilding Industry Finance Company Ltd, became chief accountant of the State Development & Investment Corp.

Yang Jiayi, vice-president of Beijing International Power Development & Investment Corporation, become chief accountant of the China Energy Conservation Investment Corp.

Six of the seven winners, aged from 37 to 45, have masters or doctorate degree.
