Dorm blast injures 6, suspect detained
Six students were injured in a blast that happened in a dormitory building in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Tuesday. Police have detained one suspect. The blast occurred at 4:49 a.m. in the No.2 dormitory building of Inner Mongolia Medical College, said Wang Huishi, a police officer of the Regional Public Security Department. Police have detained a suspect named Qin Demin, a 53-year-old man on the college staff. Qin allegedly filled three transfusion bottles with explosives, steel balls and nails and ignited them on three dorm window boards. According to Qin, he made this incident as a revenge to the college which failed to meet his housing demand. Last year, he threw explosives into a boiler house on the campus but caused no casualties, so he designed another blast. Two students were injured by steel balls and four others were hurt by broken glass. The explosion destroyed windows of 16 rooms on two floors. The injured students have been hospitalized and the college is dealing with
compensation to the losses of students involved. Life in the campus is back to
normal. |
