FM spokesman: China to maintain sound Sino-Indian ties
China is willing to make joint efforts with Indian new government to maintain the sound momentum of Sino-Indian relations and promote the development of the long-term constructive cooperative partnership between the two sides. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao made the remarks on May 14 in response to request of China's comments on the results of India's general elections and Sino-Indian relations. Liu said China noticed that the general elections in India has concluded recently, and All Indian National Congress became the leading party of the Indian Parliament India is an important neighbor of China, Liu said. The bilateral relations have improved and developed comprehensively with the joint efforts from the two sides in recent years, based on the five principles of peaceful co-existence. It is the two peoples' common aspiration that China and India develop good-neigborly friendship, he said.
