Blast hits shopping mall in Hefei

An explosion occurred in a shopping mall in the early hours of Friday in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, leaving no death or injuries.

It was the second blast on the Gulou Shopping Mall, one of the leading big stores in the city, within one month, local police sources said.

The explosion took place on the steps outside the northern doorof the shopping mall at about 4:00 a.m. A glass door and some ornamental lamps were smashed, said Fu Qiang, a police officer from the city's public security bureau said.

No death or injuries were reported until the press time.

The police were asking witnesses and people in the know to provide clues for the cause of the incident.

According to Fu Qiang, the shopping mall underwent a deliberateblast at 5:54 p.m. on April 26, leaving two people lightly injured.The local police have been soliciting clues for the crime.
