The defense ministers of China and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) met in Beijing and discussed mutual relations in a ``friendly atmosphere,'' a North Korean news agency reported Tuesday.

Kim Il Chol, vice marshal of the People's Armed Forces and Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met on Monday to discuss ways of developing traditionally friendly ties, and ``exchanged views on mutual interests,'' the DPRK's official KCNA news agency said.

``The talks took place in a friendly atmosphere,'' KCNA said.

The military delegation of DPRK left Monday for China. But a KCNA dispatch reporting the departure did not say how long it would last.
