China has managed to achieve its first victory in the Olympic Handball Tournament after beating Greece 33-13.

Greece began the match with a lot of enthusiasm but it was apparent after the first few minutes that they could not keep up the effort.

China lead by ten goals (14-4) five minutes before the end of the first half.

China did not relent in the second half, trying to win by the largest possible margin to raise their goal differential as it may turn into a factor in qualifying for the quarterfinal stage.

Zhai Chao scored 7 goals, Wang Min, Wang Shasha, Wu Yanan, and Li Weiwei scored 5 goals each. Greeceā€™s best player, Grigoria Gkolia had a quiet match converting one goal from five attempts.

Greece's next match is against Ukraine on 21 August while China play Brazil two days later on 23 August at the Faliro Sports Pavillion.
