Oscar-winning actor Christopher Walken has left his hand and foot prints outside Hollywood's Chinese Theater.

The Catch Me If You Can star, 61, stamped prints of his dancing shoes into the cement, recalling his childhood training as a dancer.

"This is a thrill, a big day for me, I've been lucky. Thank you for this day," he said at the ceremony.

More than 180 stars are immortalised outside the cinema. The tradition started with Norma Talmadge in 1927.

Walken won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role in the 1978 film The Deer Hunter.

He was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2002 for his appearance in 2002's Catch Me If You Can.

The ceremony coincided with the opening of Walken's latest film, Around The Bend , about a reunion of four generations of men in the same family.
