Taiwan takes part in National Farmers' Games A sports delegation
voluntarily formed by Taiwan residents is taking part in the fifth National
Farmers' Games in south China's Jiangxi Province. It is the third time the Taiwan sports delegation has come to the Chinese mainland for the Farmers' Games. Since many of them have never undergone any systematic training, they didn't achieve good results in the games. However, the head of Taiwan sports delegation Huang Jinxiong, does not think the results are that important. He says, participating is more important than winning medals. In addition, they cherish the opportunity to get together with their compatriots on the mainland. Over 2,500 farmers from around the country are competing in fourteen events of the Games that conclude on Saturday. Some typical countryside skills, such as planting and fishing, are official
events, along with traditional Chinese activities like lion and dragon dances
and dragon boat racing. |
