Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said in Beijing Friday that China hopes the United States will handle issue involving terror suspects of Chinese nationality in Guantanamo with prudence and in a responsible and appropriate way.

The remark came in response to a US State Department saying that the United States is trying to get a third country to accept the Chinese terror suspects being held in Guantanamo.

Zhang said that terrorism is a common foe of humanity and poses serious danger to world peace and regional security.

Abdullah Mehsud, a former Guantanamo prisoner, masterminded the kidnapping of two Chinese engineers in Pakistan, causing great concern of the international community, she said.

Given that East Turkistan terrorist forces pose a great threat to the security and people's lives in many countries, Zhang urged the United States to handle the issue prudently, without hurting Sino-US ties and anti-terrorism collaboration around the world.
