Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" premieres in Tokyo

《功夫》来了,星爷来了。今年的东京国际电影节可谓大吹中国风,最劲的无疑是周星驰的《功夫》。这部星爷历时两年的心血之作昨天在涩谷的OrchardHall主会场举行了亚洲首映,组委会专门铺上红地毯迎接这位亚洲巨星,其规格之高甚至超过了同一天亮相的好莱坞大腕汤姆·汉克斯和韩国红人李秉宪。放映结束后,观众对其的喜爱程度只能用轰动两字来形容。

Hong Kong king of comedy Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" has hold its Asian opening on Saturday at the Tokyo Film Festival.

The veteran film star appeared at the premier ceremony accompanied by 20 gang member holding axes, and almost a hundred reporters hustling him.

By receiving the red carpet treatment Stephen Chow overshadowed Hollywood big shot Tom Hanks and the South Korea's famous star Lee Byung Hun.

Stephen Chow, who is well known for his comedies "A Chinese Odyssey," and "King of Comedy," wants to march toward the sparkle Hollywood with his latest hit.

The film "Kung Fu Hustle", with an investment of 20 million yuan, or 2.4million US dollars, earmarked for advertising, tells the story of a young man who comes to China in the 1940's to learn martial arts.

It will be released in China, including Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao and Taiwan on December 23rd.
