Portrait of Kate Moss, nude and pregnant, on sale
A portrait of the super-model Kate Moss, heavily pregnant and looking uncharacteristically unglamorous, will be sold at auction next February, Christie's auction house said.
Freud, 81, is Britain's best-known contemporary painter.
The portrait shows Moss, who was expecting her first child, stretched on a bed with her head angled onto her shoulder. Freud, noted for his analytical approach to the human body, made no concessions for Moss in this revealing portrait.
Although he rarely paints celebrities, Freud agreed to do the portrait after hearing that Moss said one of her unfulfilled wishes was to be depicted by him. Freud speeded up his legendary slow painting process, sometimes extending over several hundred sittings, because of the model's advancing pregnancy.
Paintings by Freud have sold for up to 5.8 million pounds.

The painting was acquired by a foreign collector for 2.75 million pounds,
according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
