Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said the state will strive to create better working and living conditions for scientists during visiting three prominent Chinese scientists in Beijing Sunday, the eve of the 55th anniversary of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

Wen visited mathematician Wu Wenjun, geologist Liu Dongsheng, and computer scientist Li Guojie in their homes respectively and talked with them about their work and the development of science and technology.

Talking with Li Guojie, Wen said China should advance the development of science and technology as soon as possible and strive to make more outstanding achievements.

Founded on Nov. 1, 1949, CAS is China's supreme academic body in science and technology and an institution directly under the State Council, China's cabinet.
