Gas blowout kills 5, injures 3 in C. China mine (Xinhua) Updated: 2004-11-17 20:44
A gas blowout took place Wednesday morning in a coal mine in the county of
Longhui, central- south China's Hunan Province, leaving five dead and three
others injured.
Local source said the blowout happened at 11:53 a.m. in the Xieling coal
mine, which has already halted production for safety check-up.
Five engineers and technicians working down in the coal mine were killed on
the site, and three others were wounded in the accident.
The injured were immediately hospitalized and are all in safe condition by
press time, while bodies of the five dead have been found by 2"Further
investigation into the cause of the tragedy is underway.
