Chinese pianist wins Long-Thibaud prize A Chinese pianist has won the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud international piano competition for the first time in the 61 times it has been held. Siheng Song, 23, from Shanghai, took the top prize of EUR 30,500 (USD 40,850) over the weekend, as well as an additional prize worth EUR 6,100 for the best interpretation of a concerto (Prokofiev's 1st) and another of EUR 3,000 for the best recital. Song came to France in 2002 to further his studies at the national music conservatory in Paris. The second prize of EUR 15,200 went to a 25-year-old Italian, Alberto Nose, and a 17-year-old Frenchman, Jean-Frederic Neuburger, the youngest of the six finalists, took third prize of EUR 7,600. Another Chinese, 19-year-old Mu Ye Wu, came in fourth. Thirty seven pianists from 13 countries took part in the earlier rounds of the competition.
