Luo vows to fight on until 2008

Olympic champion swimmer Luo Xuejuan said on Tuesday that she will fight on until the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The 20-year-old Luo, who won the women's 100m breaststroke goldmedal in the Athens Olympics, said she will not think of retirement before the 2008 Olympics.

"Do you think it's logical for me to retire when I am still in my prime?" said Luo in the Chinese national championships in Tangshan, Hebei Province when asked whether retirement has crossedher mind.

Luo, who also won the 100m breaststroke in last year's world championships in Barcelona, added: "I think the nation needs me tocompete in the 2008 Olympic Games. I will try my best at that time."

"What is my next goal now? Maybe I should start thinking about defending my titles at next year's worlds," she said.

The 11th World Championships was scheduled to be held next Julyin Montreal, Canada.
