Belgrade, capital of Serbia and Montenegro, will host the 25th Summer Unverisade, also to take place in 2009.

Killian especially praised Harbin and Belgrade for their outstanding venues, their excellent general infrastructure and the enthusiasm of the public.

The decision was made by the 23 members of the Executive Committee of FISU in a secret vote. Killian added that he very much hopes that the others who were not picked will not be demoralized and encouraged them to try again in 2007.

"Nobody is a loser, we'd love to see you back in 2007," said Killian.
