Construction restarted at the stadium, nicknamed the bird's nest for its
architectural design, on Dec. 28, the IOC said in a regular newsletter. Beijing
will host the 2008 summer games.
Changes made since work stopped in July are aimed at promoting safety and
building quality while keeping costs in check. The construction timeline is also
better now.
The Stadium needs 22.3 percent less steel now than before and changes to the
roof will improve sporting events, the IOC said.
