Initiated by the Shanghai Film Group Corporation and Sony (China) Co Ltd, the contests, which started last September, received hundreds of digital video entries. "We organized the contests to promote DV art among youngsters," said Wang Tianyun, Shanghai Film Group Corporation vice president. "Dv art is recording the changes in our lives and is now drawing more and more attention." Famed hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai was on hand to present the "Best Director" award for the "My DV Movie Contest" to Wei Zheng. The Shanghai Jiao Tong University student won for his work "My Sun." "I am so pleased to see the creative work being made by such a young director," Wong said. "DV shooting is an ideal art form for the young generation to freely express their feelings and viewpoints." Wei said his award came unexpectedly. "It's such a surprise that I still can't believe it."
