Tim Duncan hyperextends his left knee
Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs sat out most of the second quarter of Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers after hyperextending his left knee, but returned to start the second half.
Duncan immediately grabbed his knee with both hands, in obvious pain, and was helped from the court. He walked to the San Antonio dressing room under his own power, and returned to the Spurs' bench less than 3 minutes later. But he didn't play during the rest of the second quarter, finishing the first half with eight points in 11 minutes.
Duncan is averaging 21.4 points and 11.9 rebounds. The Spurs brought a 37-10 record into the game — best in the NBA and the best start in franchise history.
