China goalkeeper detained in HK for assault
China's national goalkeeper Liu Yunfei and Tianjin teammate Wang Xiao were detained in Hong Kong for assault and battery but released without charge.
One female stewardess was allegedly shoved into a seat during the incident Saturday, the Xinhua state news agency said Monday.
However, Liu and Wang were released without charge due to a lack of evidence, the report said.
China's football league is in crisis with the start of the season postponed after clubs found it difficult finding sponsors for a competition plagued by allegations of match fixing and corruption.
Chinese state media has repeatedly accused players of lacking discipline and being unprofessional.
