Ruan Ling-yu lights up HKIFF

The Hong Kong International Film Festival is putting on a series of special screenings to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chinese cinema.

The highlight of the series is the digitally restored version of highly stylized biographical film Ruan-Lingyu, starring Maggie Cheung.

The 29th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) kicked off on March 22, at the Hong Kong Cultural Center.

Hosted by the HKIFF Society, this year's festival features 240 films from 41 different countries and regions. A total of 338 movies will be shown during the 16-day festival.
