Car bomb kills one in eastern Afghan city
One person was killed in a car bomb blast on Wednesday in front of Afghan government buildings in the eastern city of Jalalabad, a state agency official said.
The victim was the occupant of a car that exploded in front of the provincial governor's office, a police station and an adjacent state television building in the city center, the official said.
"It was a massive explosion. So far, the only report of a casualty is the driver of the car," Mohammad Zubair Khaksar, the head of Jalalabad television, told Reuters.
Khaksar attributed the blast, which happened during the morning rush hour, to "Afghanistan's enemies" a term used by officials to describe ousted Taliban militants. |
